"SPENCER'S MILITARY BAND"
Peoria Historical Society
No 1651, page 79:
In 1872, Frank Reinhart resigned as leader of the band and was
succeeded by Christian Trautvetter, a talented and accomplished
musician and composer of some very fine marches. Trautvetter
is credited with building the foundation upon which Spencer's
Band attained national prominence.
In 1880, Spencer's Band
was confronted with its first "family quarrel" which threatened
to disrupt the organization and caused the resignation of
Trautvetter as leader who founded a band of his own. Many
members of Spencer's joined the band. Amand Moll succeeded
Trautvetter as leader of the band and it is to Moll's business
ability that Spencer's is indebted for its successful survival
of its first discord.
